The Circus is in Town!

Mabuhay!

What is Varekai?
It is a Cirque du Soleil touring production that premiered in Montréal in April 2002. Its title means "wherever" in the Romani language, and the show is an "acrobatic tribute to the nomadic soul".

The plot:
It is based loosely on the Greek myth of Icarus, who melts his wings after flying too close to the sun. Rather than drowning in the sea below him, in Varekai Icarus lands inside a lush forest, in which the creatures teach him how to fly again.

Thanks to Fox International Channels and my friend, JM Rodriguez, Aryanna and I were invited to watch the show!

Here's our very, very Varekai experience and some tips too:

Varekai was spectacular! The show was spellbinding, the performers were world-class, and the costumes were out-of-this-world!
I don't know how many times the audience gasped at the acrobatic performances and Araynna and I clapped until our hands hurt! Haha! The two and a half hours were simply magical.
Everyone should watch it!

Go early:
  1. You avoid traffic
  2. You get the best parking space (we parked right smack at the entrance of the venue)
  3. You get to enjoy the view of the tent, take photos, and eat popcorn on one of the benches outside the tent

The show is under the Grand Chapitaeu, Quirino Grandstand Rizal Park, Manila

Photo op!

The VIP tickets that were given to Aryanna and I allowed us to enter the Tapis Rouge where
they served hors'dourves and cocktails. You can also have personalize Varekai photos taken and buy souvenirs.

You will find the usual suspects inside the tent:

Food stalls

Souvenir shops

The Varekei Cirque Du Soleil apparel are all imported so they are quite expensive
but very good quality. Go for the graphic print T-shirts.
Souvenir programs  and personalized photos are available

There are also ample toilets available

If you're on a budget, you can buy the cheapest ticket and still enjoy the show without using binoculars.

Aryanna and I were seated in the center, second row, we
could almost touch the performers!

A dream come true:

My daughter Aryanna has a bucket list. It's quite long and I'm amazed at the things she wants to do and goals she'd like to achieve—I'm so proud of her.  To watch one of the Cirque Du Soleil shows was her "Musts". According to her, she saw a youtube video of one of the shows when she was 12 yrs. old and never forgot about it. You can imagine her reaction when I told her we're watching Varekai: *jumps for joy* *cartwheels* *screams*

So, thank you:

Fox-y peeps!
Fox International Channels Territory Director Jude Turcuato and
Marketing Manager Charo Espedido who looks fab in her floor grazing skirt and striped top!

Thanks JM Rodriguez! My BFF Tim Yap was also present during the show!
